Swim is a winter sport for St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School student-athletes in grades 8-12. Practices begin in mid-October and the season runs through early-February.
The Vikings exploded onto the swim scene in the 2016-2017 school year, the team's inaugural season. Vikings swam in various individual races, including freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breast stroke. We also competed two relay teams. Brandon Newton (St. Anne-Pacelli Class of 2017) earned a spot at the State GHSA Swim Meet last year in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Head Vikings Swimming Coach Kristin Turner is in her 13th year at St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School and serves as our High School Counselor. She is in her 2nd year as the Head Coach of the Vikings Swim Team, and was a competitive cheerleader in college.
"Watching our swimmers over the past year has been a truly rewarding experience," Mrs. Turner says. "We had swimmers of various years of experience on the team, from veteran swimmers to Vikings who were new to formal swimming. One of the things I loved seeing is how each swimmer was able to work, grow, and experience success within their individual events, while also encouraging one another as a team. Each swimmer was competing against themselves and their previous times, and swimmers competed in the races that were comfortable for them. From a fast freestyle to a coordinated butterfly, breaststroke, or backstroke to a long series of laps, each swimmer can find the events that are right for them. What a wonderful, fun community of athletes and coaches to join!"
