High School Physics Students are Bridge Builders

High school Physics students are building bridges!

They were challenged to create 24-inch-long suspension bridges capable of being crossed by a 14 pound shot put. Students applied the physics of shape, tension forces, torsion forces, mechanical advantage, and built I-beam and truss systems capable of supporting the mass crossing the bridge. Some bridges even included draw mechanisms!

"I am very proud of our students' efforts, and believe there are some excellent future engineers coming from Pacelli," says Physics Teacher Mr. Adrian Anderson.
