A letter from Lee Duncan ‘66
Dear Alumni and All Supporters of St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School,
The Class of 1966 began a new initiative a few years ago - I Pledge Thirty in December (IPTID). The IPTID program is intended to provide an avenue of last resort for families of motivated students at Pacelli who have fallen on hard times. By providing access to funds in cases of financial emergencies, that could require those families to withdraw their children due to those challenges, the IPTID program is intended to provide a “gap scholarship” as assistance in those cases. In developing this program, we wanted to encourage wide participation and set the suggested contribution at a level that would not be overwhelming to most - $30. We approached this with a strategy that if we could spread our ask to alumni to participate in a concurrent giving program that would create an energy that would provide a steady supply of funds to offer some relief for those families. The program has achieved our desired mission in several instances over the last three years, and we hope to continue to hear stories of how our gifts have assisted these families.
While at Pacelli, most of us enjoyed the benefit of an environment that provided a quality experience devoid of outside pressures from negative influences. This atmosphere allowed for us to each mature in our formative years with unique support from the staff as well as our fellow classmates. To me, the strength of the Pacelli experience is not only the academics, religious influence, athletics, and other extracurricular activities, but the legacy established over the years that we enjoyed and are now leaving for the future. Recently, a former student who is now a 4-star general serving in the U.S. Army met with and addressed the current students at Pacelli, focusing his talk on faith, family and service. His accomplishments are impressive, but frankly I sense we all were able to develop similar expectations for ourselves as a result of the four years we spent at Pacelli. Our program is intended to provide that same opportunity for students that may otherwise be unable to matriculate due to reasons outside of their control. There are many of you who are already participating in the IPTID program, and we thank you! To those of you who are not yet part of the IPTID family, we ask you consider adding your support to this program, and know your gift is welcome anytime of the year!!
May God Bless You,
Lee Duncan ‘66
