Capital Campaign
Viking 600 Campaign
Dear St. Anne-Pacelli Supporters,
It's a GREAT Day to be a Viking! In the third year since we launched our capital campaign, we have truly been blessed by the generosity of over 550 donors who have given over $5.6 million. The improvements to our school would not have been possible without each one of them! We still have so much planned to enhance and grow our school! We will be adding an early learning center and embark on a major renovation of legendary Deimel Field. On May 5, 2020 leaders from St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School and St. Anne Catholic Church broke ground on Phase one of Deimel Field's renovations. Deimel Field serves as the playing site for St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School’s Vikings Baseball, Vikings Football, Vikings Soccer and Lady Vikings Soccer teams. In the near future, it will also be where our Lady Vikings Flag Football and Lady Vikings Softball teams train. Phase One of the renovations includes the installation of a state-of-the-art synthetic turf field by FieldTurf; on June 18, 2020 the first piece of turf was laid! Using its latest infill innovation, CoolPlay, FieldTurf significantly lowers the temperature of the playing surface. Other enhancements in Phase One include a new baseball backstop between dugouts; goal posts; soccer goals; baseball clay mound; foul poles; home plate; and fencing with gates around the field’s perimeter. Additionally, upon learning that the integrity of our present lights, poles and wiring, which date back to the early-1960s, are in question we are prioritizing the installation of new lights on Deimel Field in Phase One. Phase Two of the renovation to the athletic complex includes the replacement of spectator seating, an upgraded concession stand, new scoreboards, and the remodeling of restrooms. Phase One will cost $1,353,463 and will be paid for with donations collected via St. Anne Catholic Church’s and St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School’s multi-faceted, multi-year Building on Tradition: A Vision for the Future Capital Campaign. So far, through generous donations to the Viking 600 campaign, launched earlier this year, $226,251.50 of the $600,000 needed for phase two has been collected and/or pledged. We will pay for the new lights with a down payment of $200,000 which was pledged to the Viking 600 campaign at the Deimel Legacy Ball. The remaining $200,000 will be financed through the school’s Georgia Power bill to the tune of an additional $2,000 a month. While the term of the loan is 10 years, it is our hope that the anticipation of the completion of our new athletic fields will excite you, our alumni, and members of the local community to raise the funds needed to pay off the lighting and complete the other projects of Phase Two. “We are very excited and grateful to see this project come to fruition,” says St. Anne Church Pastor Fr. Robert Schlageter. St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School President and High School Principal Ronie Collins adds, “We are thankful for the generous donors who have given to our campaigns to make our state-of-the-art athletic complex a reality.” “Not only will these fields be utilized by the Vikings and Lady Vikings sports teams, but all Vikings will benefit from the expanded use of our outdoor space during recess, PE, and Field Day,” says St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School Athletic Director Corry Black. Phase One of the Deimel Field renovation is anticipated to be finished at the beginning of the start of the 2020-2021 school year: August 10, 2020. Will you please consider investing in the future of St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School by making a gift to this very important capital campaign for the Vikings of the present and the future? We sincerely thank you for the support you offer to our school and to our capital campaign!
